The Funky Celebrant, Weddings & Funerals

One of the things that makes me unique as a designer is that I don’t design in one style, repeating it over and over again. For Klara, a Melbourne Wedding and Funeral Celebrant I got to play with a different aesthetic.
The brief was “to surf a fine line between punchy as f**k and respectful as well..”
I’m super proud of the result!
Comment from Klara: “A difficult mission that you've tackled really well!”
About the project: Klara already had a Squarespace website in the old version (7.0) and we designed the new one from scratch with the latest version 7.1. Fluid Engine.
Klara had an existing blog and lots of videos that we moved over to her new website.
I felt like a kid in a candy store with all the beautiful brand assets, graphic designer and illustrator Stevie from Stevie Winter Creates created. We had icons, backgrounds, patterns- the lot.
My natural design aesthetic leans more towards neutral colours and is not funky or bold. It felt like stepping into a new role and tuning into a different character. It was very rewarding and I revelled in this opportunity. Klara is such a fun person and although we worked really hard, we had some good laughs along the way.
Customizations: I used CSS e.g. to create the “funky” buttons and matching FAQ sections. I also added the star icons as bullet points. I created custom graphics from the patterns provided e.g for the quotes. I put a lot of love and little details into this website.
For mobile, I made some tweaks including adding a layer on the home page so the text is easier to read. You can check out the live site here. Note that the site is maintained by the client.
“Thank you so much for all your hard work and patience honey, it has all gone completely noticed!! Can't wait to spread this magnificent site around the interwebs!!”
